"I'm not usually a 'jump up and down in delight person', but I absolutely love it!"

Can you make our garden more exciting?

"We just love the 'folly fireplace'. We lit a fire on Christmas Day and sat round it with our neighbours and drank Champagne - it was magical."

Andrea and Alex already had a lovely garden with several different areas but it needed a new patio and a wow factor.  With an eye for the quirky and creative Andrea loved our idea of creating an outdoor fireplace set into the dry stone wall that surrounds their garden.

To create the 'folly fireplace' and make it look and feel like part of an ancient ruin in keeping with the special atmosphere that surrounds Edge Hill we cut away masses of overgrowth and re-built and re-pointed a large section of the dry stonewall. We then fitted a large stone lintel, carved out a recess and laid a hearth before installing soft glow spotlights to illuminate the area.

We also built a low Horton stone wall that curves round the front of the fireplace and doubles as a seat.  The area around the house and conservatory was paved using sandstone and we built a wooden pergola to support a vine.

The result is a stunning garden which is now pretty, practical and magical.
